Gram & Dun … Kansas City Comfy Food

Kansas City… my new home since 2015 and a gem in good Midwestern comfy food. We have downtown with nice restaurants around the power and light district. Antons is probably my current favorite with amazing steaks from the included butcher store and a tilapia tank for fresh fish in the basement

In crossroads a mix from all over the world brings delicious tapas from la Bodega to the famous Italien cuisine from Lidias.

But still one of my favorite areas is the Plaza. A rebuild of Sevilla, Spain, gives not only architectural beauty. Next to famous shopping brands you will find great dinner choices. Probably my favorite at the Plaza is Gram & Dun. I love to take my customersor foodies (sometimes they count for both) here to experience the new midwestern cuisine.

Executive chef Nathan Nichols does a great job of pairing food with libations… as self stated on their website. The beautiful decorated dinning room brings you back in the good old times but leaves the comfy feeling of a neighborhood restaurant. Not only during summer the outside area is one of the It-Spots, also in the other seasons you can enjoy a drink around the beautiful fire places.

I love to start my dinner with a great the smoking dun signature cocktail. The hickory smoked oversized ice cube gives an amazing flavor for the whisky connoisseur.

Appetizer are a must for any customer dinner and I like to order for the table. So far no one ever complained about the famous pig wings. Kansas City… where pigs finally learned to fly and delight you with a juicy, flavorful mouth experience. The mild soy glaze gives an Asian twist to this mid western staple. Served with a spicy sambal and cilantro.

Double Pork Chop with creamy brussels sprouts is without a doubt my favorite dinner choice. Crispy breaded juicy meat and the delightful bacon enhanced brussels sprouts are never to heavy. If I come with a group I like to order a side order of fries for the table to soak the pork jus of my plate. It is not the lightest dinner but definitely gives you a comfy feeling.

If you are still have some for some sweet delight after this delicious dinner I can highly recommend the strawberry profiteroles. Three small ice cream treats with housemade cream puffs, famous as choux a la creme. As I like to say… ice cream is cold and calories are a heat measurement unit, so ice cream will burn calories 😜… I always will have space for any ice cream.
