Oh this could be a new love story. My airfryer and me! I bought it last year for Black Friday shopping and I am in love since. Well we will talk about my black beauty in a different post – let’s get back to my chicken recipes. I know a few of you have an airfryer and maybe are unsure what you can or can not do with it. I bought the HealthyFry XL from Sur La Table and I am really happy with it.
This is a easy recipe to make a meal prep chicken thighs with a super crispy skin and moist meat.
For 4 people or two portion for two days you need:
Ingredients
- 4 chicken thighs (I only buy Just bare chicken)
- 4 Tbsp The Squeal hog rub spice blend
- 4 pumps of olive oil spray
What is that spice again? The Squeal Hog rub is a spice mix created from Kansas City’s Cowtown. You can order the spice rub here or find it in good sorted stores.
Yeah this is really one of the simplest recipes. And still sooo good!
Directions
1. Open the package and wash the chicken under cold running water. I always wash all my meat before preparing it. Try with a paper towel and dispose immediately. I am not a germ phobic but chicken is something I am more careful.
2. Spray the chicken with the olive oil. Sprinkle one Tbsp on each thigh and rub all around.
3. Place the chicken in your airfryer basket and start cooking it at 360f for 10-15min. It should have a core temperature of exactly 165f. I would either leave a thermometer in the chicken and control constantly (I love my little grill one) or I would control every five minutes. Having no airfryer? buy it at sur la table or place them on a sheet pan and oven grill it for 45 min or till temperature reached.
Let’s talk about the airfryer benefits. Yes you can make everything in a oven as well or you can fry it with a lot of fat in a fryer or pan. But we have 2018 and want to go healthy!y airfryer has this nice basket and renders all fat off the chicken. You get nice meat and a very crispy skin but with less fat. Spend the $150 USD on a good and at least 5 gallon big airfryer and you will love it!
Let’s see what else we can airfry!
